Valentine's Day flower bouquet

Even if you don't like Valentine's Day, these cupcake liner flowers can be a cute gift for Mother's Day or any birthday.
You may attempt to make an entire bouquet. Hershey's kisses work well for the center, but you may put them on a skewer stem and attach a mini peanut butter cup or a ferrero rocher chocolate.

London and Lola also tried making these and I am not claiming theirs came out this way, but we had fun making them and can not wait to give them out to their teachers and classmates!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Little Miss Valentine

You probably know by now that I love .. no LOVE ... no LOLOve recycling "stuff" into better and new "stuff!" :) Such is my obsession with toilet paper rolls ... (TMI: The other day I found myself staring longingly at an empty tp roll destined for garbage in a restaurant bathroom floor; then I had to stop myself from actually pocketing the item. Don't tell anyone! lol)

Not that long ago I showed you how to make Christmas angels from cupcake liners, teepee rolls and a ping-pong ball. This time I expanded on the idea and made my angels into little Valentine's Day dolls.

The difference: no halo, heart felt (heartfelt also) wings and pipe cleaner arms. Otherwise the process is exactly the same and you can find it HERE. Insert the pipe cleaner arms BEFORE you layer the cupcake liners! It gets a bit tricky, but nothing that a pair of crafty hands couldn't manage!

May I say cute?

Stay tuned for more MORE recycling, upcycling and tricycling (:) ideas ... and ++++ ...
Oh and though I still haven't posted the button, I am on Pinterest .. look for LoLoVie of course. Or join me on Facebook.

Happy week to you Lolovies!

Hanger/Christmas ornaments turned Valentine's Day wreath

Call me cheese, but I love Valentine's Day.
I know we should love each other every day, but let's face it, sometimes you just don't feel the love as much as you would want to and so, it's nice to have a day dedicated to hearts, roses and TLC and most importantly, each other.

Sometimes I buy things with an intention of converting them into something else. Right before Christmas while heading towards the anaconda length line leading up to an Ikea cashier I picked up a pack of soft, fuzzy white heart ornaments and a white and red polka dot garland with a plan.
I used them both on our Christmas tree, but as soon as I took the tree apart I made them into this ....

I took a hanger and formed it into a heart; tied my Christmas garland to the heart wire hanger with red wool and attached a bow from ribbon and sequins. I hung two Christmas tree decoration hearts on it and wrapped the hanging part with red scrap fabric ...

I was so inspired by the wrapped fabric hanger (my friend Virve gifted me a pair of adorable wrapped wire hangers a while ago, where this part of the idea comes from) that I carried on and made another heart. I cut off the hanging part this time, wrapped the hanger around with fabric this time and secured it with a glue gun.

So, now we have a house full of hearts.

Will you come back to see how I  re-re-cycled(?) this heart? ... Hint: I deconstructed the entire garland throwing the polka dot fabric ... see what happened next ... ;)

LoLove to you LO(lo)V(i)Es!!!!!

Barrettes for Valentine's Day

Did you see Miss Pickles wearing a fabulous birdie hairpin with heart wings?
You would like one also, correct? :)
Well, now you can make one! Here is a step by step to make any of the pins below ...

What you'll need:
pink, red, white felt
embroidery thread and needle
stuffing, such as polyfill
small black beads (for birds eyes)
hairpins or rubber bands or safety pins (if you'd like to make a pin instead)
scissors
the pattern - print below
any other adornments you can think of - buttons, ribbons, beads, etc.
(TIP: I bought a bag of hearts that can be sewn onto things at Wallmart for a few dollars)

And that's it! Not many things at all, right?

I used two kinds of stitches :

Back stitch

Buttonhole stitch

For the true size of the pattern, please click on the photo below.
